We moved our family during a recession to be there for my parents.
It was a big decision. They were getting older and we were too far away to be useful. We relocated so we could show up in person. Not for a weekend, for the years.
Most of the tools built for families like ours assume the parent will learn a new app. They won't because they already have a phone that rings, a table that holds mail, and no interest in a password. Meanwhile the adult child is at work, in another state, turning guilt into one useful act they can work into their day. Both scenarios deserve care, and that is how we built it. That caring person benefits from their own plan, and that aging loved one needing both guidance and a periodic nudge, receives a plan as well.
